Anti Aging Clinic, the GTA’s Leading Provider of Anti-Aging Treatments, Announces Top Benefits of the Spectra Laser ...

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) April 29, 2014

Anti Aging Clinic (AntiAgingClinic.ca), the Greater Toronto Area’s leading hair removal and skin rejuvenating destination of choice, is pleased to announce the top benefits of using the Spectra Laser Peel for skin rejuvenation and improved overall skin tone.

“After the long, brutal winter, most in the Greater Toronto Area are turning their attention to spring and making a clean start. That should include taking a fresh approach to one’s skin care regime,” says Dr. Brian Sieber, founder of Anti Aging Clinic. “It’s no surprise that cold weather can wreak havoc on skin; the bitter temperatures can sap up natural oils on the skin, leaving it dry, as well as leave skin felling windburned and chapped. In addition, dry indoor heat can leave skin feeling even drier.”

Dr. Sieber notes that while we can’t control the seasons or weather, we can take steps to help keep our skin looking and feeling rejuvenated this spring. When it comes to having smoother, younger-looking skin, many traditionally turn to chemical peels. While chemical peels are very popular and effective, some patients can experience facial discomfort.

“A better alternative for those seeking a healthier complexion is the Spectra Laser Peel,” he adds. “Often called the 'Hollywood Peel' because of its popularity among the Hollywood elite, the Spectra Laser Peel is the most advanced and high-tech skin rejuvenation and enhancement treatment.”

Unlike a chemical peel, Dr. Sieber explains, the Spectra Laser Peel isn’t really a ‘peel;’ it’s a two-step carbon-assisted rejuvenation process that uses laser technology to regenerate collagen and create younger, softer, supple skin. The system gently exfoliates the outermost layer of the epidermis (stratum corneum), the outermost layer of skin cells, of approximately 20 to 30 microns of skin. In comparison, a chemical peel only removes approximately five microns, making the Spectra Laser Peel four to five times more effective and with no downtime.

“Safe for all skin types, the Spectra Laser Peel is the gold standard in laser treatments, with patients walking out with glowing, youthful-looking skin,” Dr. Sieber concludes. “The Spectra Laser Peel also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, diminishes the appearance of acne scars, evens out skin tones, and reverses the effects of sun damage.”

The doctor-supervised Anti Aging Clinic has been the laser hair removal and skin-rejuvenating destination of choice in the Greater Toronto Area since 1997. Some of the services provided by Anti Aging Clinic’s certified and experienced medical technicians include: laser hair removal, laser facials, age spot and pigment removal, acne treatment, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, non-surgical facelifts, massage therapy, Botox and fillers, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, tattoo removal, and body piercings. Anti Aging Clinic’s facilities, located at 1336 Avenue Road in Toronto and 68 Prospect Street in Newmarket, provide state-of-the-art services in a calm and soothing environment. Hair removal decoded

With summer officially here, getting rid of unwanted body hair can be a task. Experts give the lowdown on the various treatments available

As the temperatures begin to scorch, more and more women are opting for sleeveless tops, short dresses, mini skirts and bikinis (for beach vacations). Hence, hair removal forms an important part of a woman's beauty routine this season. There's nothing more embarrassing than unsightly body hair and today, there are a number of choices to opt from â€" such as waxing, threading, shaving, depilatory creams or laser hair removal. Each comes with their own pros and cons, different levels of pain and budget restrictions.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT TECHNIQUE
Dr Sangeeta Amladi, head medical services, Kaya Clinic , says there are a number of hair removal techniques that have been prevalent over the years and work best for different body areas. "Due to the fast growth of hair in the underarms, popular treatments include waxing and shaving. However, shaving causes the hair to grow back thicker, and one would need to wax once almost every 15 days, which is painful and time consuming. Permanent Laser hair reduction is another popular solution which is effective and long-lasting. It is easy, painless, and saves you the trouble of waxing or shaving every few days. As for the arms and legs, depilatory creams, waxing and shaving is popular. These creams are relatively easier to use, and cause no pain. However, they can get messy. Plus the skin is exposed to chemicals more often," she explains. If facing excess unwanted hair, consult a dermatologist as it could be a sign of an underlying hormonal imbalance.

MOISTURISE THE SKIN
Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, and other areas. They can selectively target dark, coarse hair while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged, says Tisha Kapur Khurana, beauty expert/ executive director, Bottega di LungaVita. "Those who still prefer waxing and may face redness post treatment, can moisturise with a tea tree or lavender lotion or aloe vera gel as this has a soothing, healing and antibacterial effect. It's good as a solution against undergrowth and you can use it until the redness is minimised. Rubbing ice cubes is a common way of soothing skin. But don't apply them directly on the skin. Those with sensitive skin should avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours before or after waxing. Ideally soaps, perfumes, or make-up should not be applied to the waxed area for at least 12 hours after waxing. Also, do not shower in the two hours prior to a waxing service for risk of infection as the pores usually open after a shower," says Tisha.

ENSURE THE TECHNICIAN IS TRAINED
Ruth Awungshi, head therapist, The Palms Spa says, "For the bikini area and chin, I recommend electrolysis hair removal as it is eventually permanent. Although the process is more lengthy than laser removal - because the therapist works follicle by follicle- the effect is better. Unwanted hair on the arms can be removed by waxing or laser as it drastically reduces the hair growth rate and leaves the area silky smooth. Hot wax is best on coarser hair on the legs and for small, tricky areas like eyebrows. As for the back, laser or waxing is the best. If one shaves, the hair grows back almost instantly which would leave it prickly." Another popular treatment is the Brazilian bikini wax. "These are quite painful to go through but helps keep the area hygienic and there are ways to combat the cons of this type of a wax. Firstly, one must make sure the technician is well trained in the process. Secondly, always make sure that the technician is wearing gloves. It is vital that they do so, as it could otherwise result in infections in the said area. Lastly, use hard wax as it does not require a waxing strip and leaves your labia area damage free."

Care for chest hair

Chest hair maintenance is a necessary grooming exercise to improve a man’s overall appearance.  Close chest shave and smooth abs shows off more muscle definition. Apart from its aesthetic benefit, less chest hair is cleaner and more hygienic, and discourages accumulation of sweat and grime during exercise

Here are five chest hair removal methods for a well-groomed body.

 Laser Removal

This is a permanent, but more expensive technique. Typically, it requires three to four professional treatments spaced out over a couple months.

Waxing

This method is regarded as the most effective but painful method because it removes hair from the root. It involves applying a strip and a sticky substance to the skin and removing swiftly in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Shaving

This is the simplest method, and covers any area of the body in one go with just a razor and a shave product. For a close shave: shower with warm water, trim particularly long hair, shave in the direction of hair growth and rinse the razor regularly.

Electrical trimming

Electrical trimming provides subtle maintenance and is a perfect hair removal method for beginners.  It does not give a silky smooth finish, but it’s a great in-between option that allows one take gradual steps to avoid a drastic transformation. It allows one to control the length of the chest hair, not simply going from a bear chest to bare chest. It is best for sensitive skin.

Hair removal cream

This works by applying the chosen removal cream across the selected area, and then leaving for 5-10 minutes while the cream ‘dissolves’ the hair protein structure, before removing. Creams can sometimes be a little harsh on sensitive skin. Always test creams on small area of skin before applying to a larger area.

Hair be gone

As the beautiful Vegas weather grows progressively warmer, clothing choices grow progressively scanter. Whether you are in a tank top, shorts, or a bathing suit, the common factor in all looks is how your skin looks and for most people, especially women, the lack of hair on that skin. Nothing is more diminishing to your self-confidence than realizing you forgot to shave your legs, armpits, or even the dreaded bikini line. For men too, a patch of missed facial hair can be cringeworthy.

The question is, how do you go about getting rid of unwanted hair. Is shaving or waxing the best way to go, and what about laser hair removal?

The decision really comes down to you and which commitment, if any, works in your day-to-day life.

Waxing demands organization and patience. Hair needs to be as long as a grain of rice before you set a waxing appointment or it won’t pull up with the wax successfully every time. Some people cannot handle the interim time between the hair surfacing and the hair being long enough to be effectively ripped out.

With wax you have options: hard wax or soft wax. Soft wax requires the use of muslin strips. Hard wax (which I love!) makes for more accuracy; the wax is laid on and the wax person (usually an esthetician) is able to see exactly where it ends up where with soft wax, the strip could cover the wax and its ability to squish into places unseen under the muslin strips. Hard wax also calls for more experience to apply.

If you have the patience for waxing, the European Wax Center (EWC) is fantastic â€" they are all over the Valley and offer a student discount for certain packages (buy a certain service three times and receive the fourth for free). For new customers in general (with a local ID), you are eligible for a free eyebrow, lip, or bikini line wax (any one of the three), or half off of a Brazilian wax if you are feeling brave.

EWC has a four-step process: first estheticians remove any make-up, oil or lotion. Second, they apply a pre-wax oil that makes it so that the wax only adheres to the hair and not the skin providing for a more comfortable experience. Next, they use EWC’s unique fragrance-free hard wax. Lastly, the technician applies the Ingrown Hair Serum which is also available for purchase. The Ingrown Hair Serum is alcohol free â€" meaning it won’t dry out the skin â€" and made with a small amount of glycolic acid to remove any dead skin cells and/or bacteria. It also contains tea tree oil to calm the skin and coffee and berry extract to keep the skin hydrated. EWC recommends visiting for your service every 3-4 weeks for best results.

I definitely suggest not waxing at home unless you are a professional because it is messy, possibly dangerous, and a recipe for disaster.

Shaving is definitely easier, more cost effective and requires less preparation. Grab a razor, shave and a few minutes later you are smooth! Shaving is a daily task where waxing is every 2-4 weeks depending on the area; results of shaving don’t last as long as waxing. Razor burn is always a con of shaving but finding and using the right razor along with great exfoliation can ease that problem. There are cheap razors but also razors with moisture strips and other padded benefits. Try to stay away from fancy razors with three or more blades â€" a simple one or two blade(s) is best.

Bumps on the skin after waxing or shaving could be a combination of things; bumps could be bacteria caught under the skin creating the bump or an ingrown hair looking for a way to grow out.

Razor burn is a common with any kind of shaving. The tell-tale red bumps can be the product of a dull blade, being a little too intense or aggressive with the razor, or even using a soap or shaving cream that does not agree with your skin.

Ingrown hairs grow toward the skin surface but curve back down toward the root when they don’t make it through.

Easy ways to avoid razor burns, razor bumps and ingrown hairs is to shave in the same direction as the hair grown. For example, shave legs from thigh to ankles. Make sure you have a nice clean and sharp razor and rinse the blade between each shave stroke. You can also invest in a thicker shave cream made especially for sensitive skin. Using a good antiseptic or some tea tree oil is a good way to help calm any redness and remove bacteria from the skin. Laser hair removal is an investment. It is definitely the most expensive option but provides permanent results for most people.

The laser kills hair follicles by exposing unwanted hair to bursts of a laser’s light. If you’re interested in laser hair removal, keep in mind that quality treatments don’t often come with tiny price tags. The good news is, the better the quality, the less likely you are to incur any kind of scarring.

For care of smooth skin, make sure to moisturize and to also gently exfoliate on the days you do not shave. For waxing, exfoliate relatively soon before the removal of hair.

Exclusive: Warning About Thefts Of Laser Hair Removal Machines As Surveillance Tape Is Released

SOUTH MIAMI(CBS4) â€" South Miami Police have a warning for business owners about an alarming trend: the theft of expensive laser hair removal machines from spas and salons.

“It is getting worse and worse. These laser machines are not cheap. This is a very big pain for us owners,” said one victim, Daniel Maderal, in an exclusive interview with CBS4’s Peter D’Oench.

South Miami Police released new surveillance tape from January 27th showing three men with hoods on a mission after smashing through the front door of Maderal’s business, Spyros Laser Medspa at 5790 Bird Road.

The three suspects are seen leaving with a $68,000 Candela laser hair removal machine.

Maderal was insured for the theft but lost a week of business.

“It’s very upsetting to work very hard for several months on my business and all of a sudden everything is going right and then one night they take away our laser machine and it is back to square one and you have to reschedule people and start from scratch again,” said Maderal.

“These machines can go anywhere from $40,000 to $120,000 or $130,000,” said South Miami Police Chief Rene Landa. “Our detectives have identified 11 businesses in Miami-Dade and Broward that have been hit with losing these machines as well as lap tops. What’s important is for us to recover these machines. They are stolen. They are registered.”

“We need to follow a lot of leads,” Landa told D’Oench. “This is an open investigation and it will remain so until we recover all of these machines.”

Landa and his detectives are making progress.

He said early Sunday morning, detectives arrested 25-year-old Kelsey Williams of Miami Gardens. Landa said he was one of the three men seen on the surveillance tape from Maderal’s spa. He said Williams has been arrested before on burglary charges.

Williams appeared in bond court on Monday on charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief. His total bond for those three cases was set at $13,500. But he was held without bond because of a previous case. Williams told the Judge he had the money to hire an attorney.

“I’m very alarmed by all the thefts,” said Maderal. “But I am glad that South Miami Police have made an arrest in this difficult case.”

Landa also released a photo of the F-150 truck that the three men were in.

“The other subject that Williams was with owns the truck,” said Landa. “That subject used to work with some of the spas and fixed their machines. So here’s a guy that come in and does work on the machines. He fixes the laser machines. He knows how to work with them and knows how much they are and then comes back at a later time.”

Landa said work by his detectives has paid off.

He took CBS4 inside his property and evidence room and showed two laser hair removal machines that were recovered from thefts in Indian River and Fort Lauderdale. Landa said detectives from those cities would be coming to South Miami to recover those machines.

Landa said there have been similar thefts in Coral Gables, Aventura, Hialeah, Stuart, Indian River and throughout Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

Landa and Maderal both hope someone will recognize the two suspects in the surveillance video who have not been arrested.

Maderal has an alarm system but said the thieves were in and out of his store in three minutes.

“Turn them in if they know they are,” said Maderal. “If they know who they are, if they recognize them or any markings on them, if they have any suspicions at all, they should call the police and let them know.”

Landa said anyone who can help should call South Miami Police Detective King at (305) 663-6304 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
