If you're tired of shaving, waxing or plucking body hair, only to have it return days later, laser hair removal may hold the answer.
Loved by celebrities, including Victoria Beckham â" who has revealed she no longer shaves her legs â" laser hair removal systems use an intense, pulsating beam of light to remove unwanted hair.
âItâs amazing,â Victoria told the March issue of Allure magazine.
âYou can go back for little touch-ups if you do see little hairs appearing but Iâve been very lucky that I havenât had to.
"That was one of the best tips that Eva Longoria ever gave me,â she revealed.
Top aesthetic doctor Vicky Dondos says that Intense Pulsed Light is the best available treatment for permanent hair reduction.
Unlike basic laser treatment, which has a single wavelength of light, Intense Pulsed Light uses charges of pulsed white light.
âThe advantage of this system compared to the laser system is that large areas can be treated relatively quickly,â says Dr Dondos, from leading aesthetic clinic Medicetics.
âAnd the pulse and filters can be changed and varied according to the skin-type and hair colour to increase efficiency and ensure maximum hair removal.â
She explains that not only can each treatment be tailor-made to the client, but where there are different hair colours and varying skin types on the same person, the settings can be adjusted during the treatment.
âWith lasers, only dark hair on pale skin can be successfully treated,â Dr Dondos adds.
Unlike waxing, there is no need to let hair grow out between IPL treatments, which means you can remain hair free all the time.
